I must admit, I forget this place even exists sometimes! DA has died down a lot in the past few year so I don't check it very often anymore. It's nice to come back on every once in awhile though and see new watchers! Thanks guys! (Even though I rarely ever update.)
It's 2015 now, yay!! It's gonna be a rough year for me. I'm planning to move out of my house and in with my boyfriend in Virginia. He's in the Navy and we want to finally get an apartment together. Big life changes but it's also very exciting! As for cosplay, it's really been on the back burner for me for the last few months. Cosplay has become more of a chore to me than a hobby I enjoy. Maybe because all of the cosplays I tend to choose are sewing-intensive and although I love sewing, it frustrates me to no-end and I'm a super perfectionist about it. So then I get mad when my cosplay isn't perfect and it's just a big, disappointing mess! I have been working on things here and there but nothing has been a priority to me.
Buuuuuut... I will talk about the things I have been working on and plan to work on!!
So first things first, I'm currently in the process of finishing a full vampire form Seras Victoria cosplay! It's very exciting and I got into Hellsing a few months ago and fell in love. (I'm a huge vampire nerd haha.) She's maybe about... 30% done? I have a lot of work to do on her arm and vest but that's the only major things. I plan to debut it at Shutocon this year. A few of my friends and I are going there for just saturday but I'm sure it'll be fun! Small cons are always quite nice.
I have also decided to take my cosplay endeavors in a bit of a different direction... In all the years I have cosplayed, I have generally stuck to female characters. Now there's nothing wrong with any of my old choices, but cosplaying girls has just become quite boring to me and are no longer enjoyable to make. But I have recently found a love for horror characters! I worked at a haunted house this past halloween and completely fell in love with the atmosphere, the creativity, and the ability to experiment with different medias and become something completely different from myself. I had the ability to create my own characters and scare people for money, how great is that!? Which has led me to try my hand at horror cosplays! I think this will be so much more enjoyable for me. This doesn't necessarily mean I will completely give up other characters and forms of costume making, I just want to stick to things that, well... cover my face??? lol
So one of my first few endeavors is a Screamer from Silent Hill: Downpour!! I loooove horror games, especially the SH series and I think it would be a really fun monster to make. If I remember to update this place sometime, I will be sure to post some progress shots!!
Anyway, that's it for now. I hope to see lots of great people at shuto next month!
